2014 Marine Corps Marathon Registration Opens Today - See Details Below

Relax... the Marine Corps Marathon is using a lottery system for registration this year. See details below.

The 2014 Marine Corps Marathon has gone to a lottery system for public registration—and it begins today at 12 Noon, Eastern time. Registration will remain open until Saturday, March 15th at Noon. This means no more frenzy with tens of thousands of runners trying to get on the website at the same time to enter through the previous first-come, first-served format.

Runners will learn whether they've gotten in on March 19th. The 2014 Marine Corps Marathon will be held on October 26th.

According to the Marine Corps Marathon website, this is the first time the race has used a lottery entry format since 2004. Find all the Marine Corps Marathon registration details here.  See the press release about 2014 Marine Corps Marathon registration here (PDF).

Good luck to all would-be MCM participants!

2012 Marine Corps Marathon - Registration Opens 3 p.m. EST Wed., March 7th

Registration for the 37th Marine Corps Marathon opens March 7th.

Registration for the 2012 Marine Corps Marathon opens at 3 p.m. Eastern time on Wednesday, March 7th. At that time, go to the Registration page here.

The 37th Marine Corps Marathon will be held Sunday, October 28th. The race is the fourth-largest marathon in the U.S. and is sure to sell out quickly, so visit the website as close to 3 p.m. as you can. Last year, the race's 30,000 spots sold out in just over 28 hours, according to the race's site.

Read more at the registration announcement here (PDF document).  Check out the FAQ page here and the runner information page here for details on course maps, the weekend schedule, transportation to the race, and more.

With a registration fee of $92, the Marine Corps Marathon is one of the more reasonably priced major marathons. (The New York City Marathon, citing increased costs for policing and security, costs $266.)
