2017 Western States Endurance Run (WSER) - Watch Live Webcast & More

If you're an ultrarunner, the place to be the last weekend in June is the grueling Western States Endurance Run (WSER) in California. Starting in Squaw Valley, home to the 1960 Winter Olympics, the race ends 100 miles later in Auburn, California, a unique test of the human body and spirit.

The 2017 Western States takes place June 24th and 25th, and here are some key links to live coverage, updates, and news about the race:
The Western States 100-Mile Endurance Run is the world's oldest trail endurance run. If you can't be there competing or volunteering, you can follow along online at the links above.

2016 Comrades Marathon - [RESULTS] Race Instructions, Course Map, & More

The famous Comrades Marathon takes place this Sunday, May 29th, and as usual it promises to be one of the most grueling races and tests of human endurance. See the links below for details on Comrades 2016, which begins at city hall in Pietermaritzburg and ends at Kingsmead Stadium in Durban. The official distance for this year's Comrades Marathon is 89.208 km, and start time is 5:30 a.m. local time.

The 2015 Comrades Marathon, which marks the 90th running of the classic South Africa ultramarathon, takes place this Sunday, May 31st. Here are some essential details you'll want to know about the race:
  • course map (view or download)
  • runner tracking (Note: Comrades website says "Use this link on your Mobile device to load the app to track your runner on race day."
  • virtual Comrades course in 3D
  • race FAQs
  • starting point: City Hall, Durban
  • finish line: Oval Cricket Stadium, Pietermaritzburg
  • start time: 5:30 a.m.
  • official distance: the race distance varies somewhat each year, but for 2015 it is approximately 89 km. According to the race FAQs page, "the final race distance is subject to change and will be confirmed in the Final Race Instructions."
(Update: info on the mobile app for Comrades runner tracking has been added above.) We haven't been able to find details on the website about how to track Comrades runners, but will add it here if we locate it (this may not appear until the race starts, unfortunately). 2014 Leadville Trail 100 Run - Course Info, Event Schedule, & More

This weekend is the Leadville Trail 100 run, and below are links to some of the essential details you'll need to know. (See the event schedule at the bottom of the page.)
We haven't yet seen a link for viewing live results or runner tracking for the Leadville 100, but will check the website throughout the week and post it if we find it. You might want to bookmark the Leadville 100 results page (which currently lists past results) and see if it is updated with 2014 trail run results on race day.

• 11:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. Early packet pickup and mandatory medical check-in

Photo ID is required. Racer check-in and packet pickup. Packets must be picked up in person. They will not be mailed or given to others.

2014 Western States - Webcast & Live Webcam

Saturday, June 28th marks the start of annual running of the Western States Endurance Run (WSER), the grueling 100-mile ultra that begins in Squaw Valley, California. The event began at 8 a.m. Pacific time, and you can follow along via the webcast and live webcam. (Note: webcam may or may not be showing anything, depending on when you visit it. The page says it will display updates every hour)

The Western States webcast will show you current results that you can customize for various options, such as overall leaders, top men, top women, leaders by checkpoint, etc. You can also create a list of favorites of runners you want to keep tabs on.

If you're on social media, check WSER updates and commentary on sites such as Twitter and Facebook by searching for the hashtags #WS100 or #WSER100. The official WSER Twitter account is twitter.com/wser100 (@wser100) and you can also check its Facebook page.

2014 Comrades Marathon - Runner Tracking, Results Page, Course Map, & More

It's time once again for that unique endurance running event, the Comrades Marathon in South Africa. This year's competition, which takes place June 1st, features 18,000 athletes from around the world. Here are some handy links to follow the race:
When the race is over (or maybe while it's underway), check the Comrades results page to see how the runners are doing.

This year's race will start at City Hall in Pietermaritzzburg and end at the Sahara-Kingsmead Cricket Stadium in Durban. This is the "down" run; the race alternates directions each year.

2013 Leadville 100-Mile Run: Athlete Guide, Online Medical Check-In, & More Info

On August 17th and 18th one of the world's toughest races will take place: the 2013 edition of the renowned Leadville 100-Mile Run in Colorado. Here is some information to help you be prepared for the race:
The "Race Across the Sky" takes an out-and-back route through the Colorado Rockies. The run's low point is 9,200 feet; its high point is Hope Pass, with an elevation of12,600 feet.

2012 Leadville Trail 100 Run - Live Tracking & Results

The Leadville Trail 100 Run takes place today, August 19th, and you can find live tracking and results at the link here. Ultramarathons are tough, but Leadville has got to be one of the most challenging in the U.S.: this 100-mile trail race, which takes place near Leadville, Colorado, is held at elevations that range from around 9,000 to more than 12,000 feet.

At the Leadville 100 results page here you can view the male or female leaderboard, see overall results with splits, or track a particular athlete. Good luck to everyone competing in the Leadville Trail 100!

The Comrades Marathon is the world's largest ultramarathon, featuring more than 24,000 runners from elites to everyday runners (if running an ultra can be considered an "everyday" event, that is). At the official Comrades Marathon website you can track runners, see live video, and get live results.
