2019 Boston Marathon Results

The rain held up (mostly) during the 2019 Boston Marathon, and the results for the elite runners ended up being a tale of two races. On the women's side,Worknesh Degefa of Ethiopia ran away with it, quite literally, at one point maintaining a lead of three minutes over the nearest competitor at one point before eventually winning in 2:23:31, beating second-place Edna Kiplagat of Kenya by more than 40 seconds. Jordan Hasay of the U.S. finished on the podium in 2:25.20, and last year's winner, Des Linden, took fifth in 2:27:00.

It was the opposite story for the men, where Lawrence Cherono of Kenya narrowly edged second-place Lelisa Desisa at the tape, winning in 2:07:57 to Desisa's 2:07:59. But don't feel bad for Desisa; the Ethiopian had won the last two Boston Marathons. American men had a good showing, with Scott Fauble taking seventh place in 2:09:09 and Jared Ward finishing eighth in 2:09:25.
