2010 Spring Lake 5 - General Registration Opens Feb. 12th

NOTE: Entry to 2010 Spring Lake 5 is now filled, but you can still get into the race by signing up to raise money through one of the race's charity partners.

Most of the spots in the 2010 Spring Lake 5 mile race have been filled, but the remaining slots will be open starting on Friday morning, Feb. 12th at 5:00 a.m. - yes, that's what the Spring Lake 5 Web site says. Early registration opened to those who had run the race before, and the Web site says that that quota (7,000 participants) has been reached. 


Another 2,500 participants will be added through the general registration that beings Feb. 12th. So what about the extra 500 slots to make up the 10,000-runner field? I'm guessing those are reserved for people who sign up to run the Spring Lake 5 to benefit a charity.


As always, the Spring Lake 5 will take place the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend, which this year is May 29th. The race starts at 8:30 a.m. at Ocean and Sussex Avenues in Spring Lake, New Jersey.

Sunday, February 7th is the 2010 Surf City Marathon in beautiful Huntington Beach, California. Below are some links for info runners may find useful, with start times listed after.

Marathon - 6:30 am
Half Marathon - 7:45 am

2010 Cherry Blossom Run Transfers Begin Today

The 2010 Cherry Blossom Run in Washington, D.C. has long been sold out, but today begins the transfer period. This means that people who have successfully gained entry to the race but can't make it can transfer their registration to another person. Check the Cherry Blossom number transfer info page for complete details, including rules, procedures, and an overview. You can transfer if you know someone who wants to run, or find someone who wants a transfer, or seek to get a transfer from a registered entrant.

The transfer period runs from Monday, February 1 at 10:00 A.M. until February 28 at 11:59 P.M. The 2010 Cherry Blossom Run takes place Sunday, April 11th and includes a 10 mile race and a 5K.

2010 Chicago Marathon - Registration Now Open!

Registration opened at 12 Midnight on February 1st for the 2010 Chicago Marathon.  The race will take place on October 10th - 10/10/10. You'll find the 2010 Chicago Marathon registration details here, including registration requirements and links for online registration and downloading the entry form to mail in.

2010 ING Miami Marathon - RESULTS and Course Map, Info, and More

Sunday, Jan. 31st is the 2010 ING Miami Marathon. Go to the official Web site for the 2010 Miami Marathon course map and information about the starting point, finish line, and more, direct from the official site. You'll also find a turn-by-turn look at the course, details on course elevation, location of aid stations and milemarkers, and more.

When the race is over, check the Miami Marathon results page to find out the times of you or your friends or family. Currently the page lists race results for previous years.

NYRR 2010 Manhattan Half-Marathon Results

The 2010 Manhattan Half-Marathon results are in. The race, the first of the year in the New York Road Runners' annual five-borough half-marathon challenge, was held Sunday, January 24th. As usual, you can search the results by name, bib number, gender, club name, etc.

Congrats to all runners! I had a good pace most of the way, but had to stop a few times, which hurt my time. Several people I know were able to set PRs today--great work!

The Walt Disney World Marathon weekend is taking place in Orlando unseasonably chilly weather, and results are coming in for the races.
