This Friday is the annual Peachtree 10K Road Race in Atlanta. Because the 4th of July falls on a Friday this year, runners will get two days off before they have to return to work.
The Peachtree 10K Road Race is one of the country's largest road races, with a total of 55,000 runners. The finish line has changed this year; find out about it here and check out the Peachtree Road Race FAQ for answers to other questions.

St. Patrick's Day Runs to Celebrate
St. Patrick's Day is one of those festive occasions that dovetails naturally with a race, and there are plenty of races on St. Paddy's Day weekend 2008 and through the end of March.
Active.com's running Web site has a special page dedicated to this year's St. Paddy's Day races. You can find events throughout the country of various lengths. Most are the weekend surrounding March 17th, but some of the races are as late as March 30th. Just lace up your shoes, throw on some green clothing, and you're ready to go.
St. Patrick's Day involves festivity, celebration, and music, so there's usually plenty of entertainment and good times surrounding these races. And the mid-March timing means good weather (or at least the chance of it) in most parts of the U.S.
