2011 ING New York City Marathon - Race Results

Today's cool, clear weather no doubt led to many PRs in today's New York City Marathon, and you can find your results here. (Note: this results link and some others appear to be working oddly or directing visitors to different pages; apparently there are some quirks as the NYC Marathon folks are updating and populating their results pages.)

American Lauren Fleshman just past the 25-mile mark. The 5,000-meter specialist finished her first marathon in 2:37:22.

Here are some quick links for 2011 NYC Marathon results:
According to the site, demographic information on the finishers will be available tomorrow. For general questions or information, see the ING NYC Marathon home page.

Geoffrey Mutai of Kenya won today's race in a time of 2:05:05, smashing the previous NYC Marathon record by more than two minutes. He broke the tape less than a minute ahead of his countryman Emmanuel Mutai (no relation), who finished in 2:06:28. Meb Keflezighi ran a strong race to finish as the first American in 2:09:13, good enough for sixth place overall.

In the women's division, Mary Keitany of Kenya led most of the race (sometimes by as much as three minutes), but was reeled in by two other finishers and had to settle for third place in a very close finish. The winner was Firehiwot Dado in 2:23:15, with countrywoman Buzunesh Deba coming in close behind at 2:23:19. Keitany's time was 2:23:38.

Kim Smith of Rhode Island was the fifth-place finisher and first American, with a time of 2:25:46.

I had a list of about 15 runners I was hoping to see during the race, but ended up seeing only three of them.
