The Inaugural Brooklyn Marathon - Race Results Posted!

Brooklyn Marathon results were posted around 2 p.m. Monday on the race's website, thebrooklynmarathon.com/results. The inaugural race took place yesterday and more than 350 runners were have said to have run the event.

(Race organizer Steve Lastoe noted in an e-mail that these are unofficial results and that final results will be posted in a couple of days.)

Runners in the inaugural Brooklyn Marathon.

The race, held entirely in Prospect Park, had great representation from local running clubs including Prospect Park Track Club and North Brooklyn Runners. And for a first-time event, things seemed to run quite smoothly.

John Paul (JP) Montes of Brooklyn was the men's winner of the inaugural Brooklyn Marathon with a time of 2:43:13, while Kelly Gillen of Manhattan took the women's division in 3:14:20.

New York Magazine did a nice article on the Brooklyn Marathon with a focus on Montes.

Volunteers handed out fluids, pretzels, and other treats at an aid station.

Based on the turnout and enthusiasm for the race, it seems that NYCRuns, the race director, has a hit on its hands. Here's to many more successful years of the Brooklyn Marathon.
