2014 Boston Marathon Registration Info: Dates, Notes, Field Size Increase, & More

If you want to get into the 2014 Boston Marathon, the registration date is coming up soon... so you might want to spend part of your Labor Day weekend checking out the details. Here are some basic details, shown after the graphic of qualifying times (you can find full information at the Boston Athletic Association's registration dates page):

  • Registration for the 2014 Boston Marathon starts September 9, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. ET; it will be conducted online only at www.baa.org
  • The registration process will be the same as for 2012 and 2013, allowing faster runners to register first
  • Race date: Monday, April 21, 2014
  • Field size: for 2014 only, the Boston Marathon field has been increased to 36,000 participants
  • Qualifying standards for 2014 (shown above) are the same as for the 2013 race  
  • The 2015 Boston Marathon will take place on April 20th; registration dates have not yet been announced. The qualification window for the 2015 race opens on Saturday, September 14, 2013.

The 117th running of the Boston Marathon takes place Monday, April 15th, and below you'll find some hand links related to the race, whether you're a runner or a spectator.
You can follow preparations for the marathon, and get updates during the race, via Twitter accounts such as those for Runner's World (@runnersworld) and LetsRun.com (@letsrundotcom), or the official Boston Marathon Twitter feed (@bostonmarathon) and the John Hancock marathon feed (@jhboston26).

2012 Boston Marathon Registration Now Open


Registration for the 2012 Boston Marathon opened Sept. 12th at 10 a.m. Eastern time. The Boston Athletic Association (BAA) has been tweaking its registration system in the last couple of years to address some of the complaints about it, so be sure to read all the rules.

Registration is sure to fill up fast, so if you're interested in running the 2012 race, which takes place on April 16th, head over to the Boston Marathon registration page.

2010 Boston Marathon - Runner Tracking, Course Map & Elevation, Start Time, FAQs, More

The 2010 Boston Marathon is Monday morning April 19th, and here are some links to important details from the official Boston Marathon Web site:

Additional information:
The Boston Marathon now has an official Twitter accountwww.twitter.com/B_A_A_, for updates.

The race has put up a note for European runners entered in the 2010 Boston Marathon, giving additional race bib pick-up times and locations in light of the problems travelers are having getting out of Europe due to volcanic ash. It also tells how to go about entering the 2011 Boston Marathon, for European runners who can't get to Boston in time for this year's race.
