2013 NYC Marathon - RESULTS

Latvia's Jelena Prokopcuka (3rd place) motoring past Mile 24.

The 2013 NYC Marathon went off as planned, getting back on track after its last-minute cancellation last year due to Hurricane Sandy. You can find NYC Marathon results here (unofficial, as of race night).

You can view the results in a number of ways:
At the NYC Marathon results page you'll also find out how to get a finisher's badge, buy official Marathon finisher photos and clothing, and get answers to common questions about the race results.

The weather was cool but windy, making for some challenging conditions. But it's hoped that many runners benefited from the lower temperatures to have a good finish time. Congrats to all finishers!

2013 New York City Marathon - Runner Tracking, Course Maps, & More

The NYC Marathon Expo being set up on Oct. 30th.

October is nearly over, and that means the 2013 New York City Marathon is coming up. Here are some essential information you'll want to know, whether you're running in the race or following friends or family who are running it.
There are a couple of different ways to track runners. One is TrackMyRunners™, a for-pay service ($2.99 or $3.99), which lets you track athletes by text, Twitter, or Facebook (see details).

A free option for tracking runners is the official NYC Marathon mobile app, available for iOS or Android. According to its webpage, the app offers:
  • Live tracking of runners (up to 10) with splits
  • Elite runner leaderboard
  • Spectator course-map points of interest
  • Race Calendar, Expo information, and race FAQs
  • News and live Twitter feed

2012 New York City Marathon - Runner Tracking

The New York Marathon takes place Sunday, Nov. 4th, and you can sign up to track runners here via text message and social media. Unlike many other races, there is a fee for this tracking.

If you don't want to pay a fee or don't need the text/social media updates, you can still track runners on the NYC Marathon website on the day of the race, which is free.

The text/social option is available only in the U.S. More on this option:
"You can track up to three runners via text. As a bonus, you can also choose to track one runner via Facebook and up to three other runners via Twitter. Pre-register by 11:59 p.m. EDT, November 3, 2012, for only $2.99; race-day registration is $3.99. Social media options are not available for purchase on race day. Sign up now or at the ING New York City Marathon Health and Fitness Expo on November 1-3."
For the web option, you can track up to five runners. You don't need to register in advance for this service, and it's available only on the morning of the race.

I'll have more details on the NYC Marathon later, but until then see the race's website for additional information.
