National Running Day 2009; New York Marathon Entry Update

Wednesday, June 3rd is National Running Day. If you're in the NYC area and want to go for a group run, see the New York Road Runners Club's listing of National Running Day activities. (U.S. Olympian Deena Kastor will be hosting a couple of the events in the City tomorrow.)

Among the events:
  • Mighty Milers Fun Run/Walk (Olympian Deena Kastor will host) - Randall's Island, 10:30 - 12:30 a.m.
  • Runs in Central Park and Brooklyn's Prospect Park, 5-7 p.m.
  • Group runs in Central Park, Prospect Park, Van Cordlandt Park (Bronx), and Forest Park (Queens) - 6:30 - 7 p.m. (Deena Kastor hosts in CP)
  • Young Professionals Central Park Group Run and Happy Hour (with link to purchase tickets)

Plenty of opportunities to enjoy a group run in New York City today, and most of the day should be sunny and dry.

Speaking of New York and running, the last day to enter the lottery for the 2009 New York City Marathon was yesterday; this Thursday you'll be able to find out if you made the cut. From the NYRCC site:

"Lottery results for U.S. residents will be available on Thursday, June 4, at noon by logging-in to the Entrant Login. Entrants will need their username and password in order to log-in. If you do not know your username and password, please e-mail reghelp@nyrr.org for assistance. Entrants will be asked to provide emergency contact information. Please have that available. All U.S. applicants and international lottery entrants will also receive an e-mail confirming their status on Friday, June 5."

The New York Marathon entrant login page is here.

Happy National Running Day, and if you've applied to get into the NYC Marathon, good luck!
