UPDATE: The Philadelphia Marathon will add 3,000 spots exclusively for runners who were registered for this year's canceled New York City Marathon, it was announced today. The extra spots will be allocated by lottery, according to an article from CBS News in Philly (which was linked to on the Philly Marathon's Twitter account):
"Runners can enter a lottery beginning Wednesday, November 7th at 9 a.m. through Thursday, November 8th at 5 p.m.... Officials say the registration fee for the registered NYC Marathon runners is $200 and half of that will be donated to the American Red Cross Hurricane Relief Fund.... Lottery selection will take place immediately after the lottery registration closes on Thursday, November 8th at 5 p.m. and those chosen will be notified by e-mail."If you meet the requirements, apply for the lottery at the Philadelphia Marathon website. Philly's mayor made the announcement Tuesday afternoon, although nothing appears yet on the race's site.

The 2012 Philadelphia Marathon and other races will take place the weekend of Nov. 16th to 18th, and you'll find some important information about the events below. The marathon and half marathon are sold out, but there are still spots available in the Rothman Institute 8K (in fact, registration for the 8K has been extended to Nov. 11th).
The marathon and half marathon take place Sunday, the 18th, while the 8K will be held on Saturday.
